The Relm HS180 is a HANDHELD, programmable, 100 channel multi-band AM/FM
Scanning Monitor Receiver. It is microprocessor controlled.
Designed to cover:
CB Band
Aircraft Communications Band
Amateur Band in the 2, 6, and 10 meter bands and the 70 centimeter band
Low and High VHF Bands with the standard and extended UHF Public Safety
Business Bands
The search function helps locate unknown frequencies with any of the
included bands
Search, Hold or Delay can be selected for holding or delaying the
resumption of searching after an active frequency is found
A departure from the standard configuration for Motor Sports frequency
scanning is the introduction of the ear piece.
This is designed to completely replace the traditional Head Set

provide different degrees of background noise attenuation.
A Foam Tipped Ear Piece provides some 20-22
decibels of noise attenuation
An Ear Piece with an External Transducer
provides 24-28 decibels of noise attenuation
A Semi Custom Ear Piece will provide
28-32 decibels of attenuation
A Custom Ear Piece will provide up to
46 decibels of background noise attenuation
It is a little known fact that the ear is the only part of the body that
does not have sweat glands present. Consequently, while wearing the custom
fitted ear piece you can realize the best background noise attenuation with
no perspiration. However, while wearing a typical scanner headset, you will
generally only realize 18-20 decibels of noise reduction with generous amounts
of perspiration.
